About the Barge The French Canal du Midi welcomes you for a luxurious and exclusive river cruise onboard one of the most beautiful hotel barge, Alegria. Alegria is the latest barge launched on the Canal du Midi. Her ambitions are clearly to become one of the top barges available in the region. Her features are really unique: - A unique and modern look, very different from most of the other barges. - The largest lounge for only four guests, with music and video. - Almost the largest cabin sizes along the Canal (180 to 210 sq ft)… - Beautiful cabins that are really unique, light and bright. - Intimacy and privacy from the cabins thanks to two entrance doors leading either directly outside the barge either inside the lounge. - All the comfort offered by the best boats (Aircon, central heating, heated tower rails, etc) and even more: a mini fridge, a coffee and tea tray in each cabin. - Large portholes opened on the hull and that provide you with large views at the level of the canal. - A pool beautifully integrated in the superstructure of the barge - A very welcoming wheelhouse with its authentic 1937 wheel, all the woodwork in teak and a typically Provencal floor.
	Alegria hosts a maximum of four guests in two large cabins fitted with king size beds, and is managed by a crew of four. Barge cruising offers a week of relaxation, gastronomy, excellent wines, fascinating culture, great landscapes, friendship with a warm population… Every day is a new day of discoveries… and of unexpected surprises offered to you! ALEGRIA is a barge of the Freycinet type, built in 1937 at a shipyard in Thuin, Belgium. She was originally 39 meters long and 5,07 meters wide, designed for loads of 400 tons, but in 1999 the ship was converted to a houseboat and shortened to 29.37 meters (100 feet). Her present length now allows passage through the smaller locks of the famous Canal du Midi. She is docked near Poilhes, a charming village on the Canal du Midi, 12 km from Beziers, 20 km from the Mediterranean Sea and close to Narbonne. You will either embark or disembark from this charming village that offers many remains from Roman times.
Do not hesitate to enjoy the (heated!) pool after a warm afternoon… or just relax while enjoying some pre-dinner drinks… The large lounge and dining room has two big portholes offering direct views on the Canal and its inhabitants: our friends the ducks and geese. In the salon is a Home Theatre with a selection of CD’s, as well as a selection of books and parlor games. We offer you Internet access through the connection of a 3G+ USB key to your laptop.… The kitchen is either open onto the lounge or closed, depending on whether our Chef allows to watch how he prepares his great and secret dish… But he can also share his secrets with you! For your important documents and valuables a safe is available.
	Two large guestrooms with en-suite bathroom, totaling between 18 and 20 sq m ( 190 to 210 sq ft), are located on the sides of the boat. These guestrooms have two entrances each: one leading directly outside to the front of the barge near the pool and another opening inside to the lounge. This allows both intimacy and independence. The rooms have large portholes which offer a panoramic view of the Canal du Midi . The cabins are fitted with king size beds that can be separated into single beds upon request. You will be supplied with bathrobes, bath amenities (from the famous product line “L’Occitane en Provence”) and a hair dryer.
You will also find in your room a mini-fridge full of cool drinks and a tea & coffee tray with biscuits. Both cabins have aircon. In the event of a cool night at the end of the season the cabins have central heating, as well as the bathrooms (also fitted with heated towel rails). Daily housekeeping is obviously provided. We can propose a laundry service upon request.

The transfers and excursions are made from a large Peugeot 807 Pullmann that offers

Included in the charter price

- Transfer from the railway station or the nearest airport, and return.
- Accommodation in a cabin fitted with a King size bed or two single beds.
- Service in the cabin, use of a bar-fridge and the complimentary non-alcoholic drinks inside, tray with tea, coffee, water boiler.
- All meals served both on board Alegria and in outside restaurants (two meals). All the pre-drinks and beverages with the meals.
- Drinks offered onboard during the day and the cruises.
- Excursions as mentioned above, including the guide and the entrance fees.
- The internet connection through a 3G+ USB key.
- The use of bicycles.
- And above all… all the surprises or gifts that await you every day and that will not be disclosed to you in advance…!

Cancellation and travel insurance (strongly recommended)
- Any exceptional wine that could be proposed to the guests on top of the existing list.
- The gratuities to the crew (we recommend between 5 and 10% of the stay, payable to the Captain and then shared between all)
- Any alcoholic drink from your mini fridge: half-bottles of Champagne and others. Prices will be communicated to you onboard.
